The short answer

Eight standard Specializations any recruit can take, plus exotic classes locked to droids or specific characters.

In full

What that means when you are planning

The eight are Assault, Gunslinger, Heavy, Medic, Scoundrel, Scout, Sharpshooter and Soldier. Any Operator who can choose a Specialization chooses from those.

The exotic classes are not choices — they are properties of the Operator. Tel-Rea Vokoss is a Jedi Padawan and can be nothing else; Cly Kullervo is a Mandalorian Warrior and cannot change it; astromechs use the Astromech class. A fourth exotic class is confirmed to exist, and no source names it, so this site does not either.

One of the three is less closed than the others. Cly Kullervo can add any of the eight as a secondary once dual Specializations unlock, where Tel-Rea Vokoss and astromechs gain extra abilities instead and never take a standard class.

Cly Kullervo is the trap here. EA describe her as "a Mandalorian gunslinger", and Gunslinger is a Specialization — but in her case it is flavour. Her class is Mandalorian Warrior.

What we don't know yet

The game has not been released. These are open questions we have chosen not to guess at.

  • The name and holder of the fourth exotic class.
  • Which Specializations the authored Operators can and cannot change to.
