The short answer
The currency spent in Focus Trees to upgrade an Operator's Talents, Abilities and Passives. They come mainly from Bonds.
In full
What that means when you are planning
Missions and Operations also grant them, but Bonds are the main source — which is what ties squad selection to character power. Every Bond level pays Focus Points to both Operators in the pair, and the Freeform Training option pays +2 more.
They are spent at the Den before missions, on class abilities and on an Operator's personal Talent. Each Talent has three ranks, and the final rank often changes what the Talent does rather than only scaling it, so Focus Points are not evenly valuable across ranks.
The full tree layout — nodes, prerequisites and costs — has not been published, which is why no node-by-node planner exists here or anywhere else.
What we don't know yet
The game has not been released. These are open questions we have chosen not to guess at.
- The full Focus Tree layout — nodes, ranks, prerequisites and costs.
- How many Focus Points a mission or Operation grants.
