What it needs

In the squad
Scout — a shot that applies Exposed · Assault — Strike the Flanks
The builder checks
A Scout and an Assault in the same squad.

Mechanism

Why it works

The Assault's Strike the Flanks grants +20% critical chance against Exposed enemies, on every attack it makes, melee included.

Normally the Assault earns that by flanking, which costs movement and usually puts it in the open.

A Scout's shot applies Exposed from wherever the Scout already is. The Assault gets the bonus without spending its own movement reaching a flank, which leaves the Action Points for attacking instead of repositioning.

Cost

What it gives up

The Scout's attack is spent setting up rather than killing, and the bonus only applies while the target stays Exposed.

What we don't know yet

The game has not been released. These are open questions we have chosen not to guess at.

  • How long Exposed lasts, and whether it is removed by the enemy returning to cover.
  • Whether Exposed from a Scout is the same status the Assault's own flanking applies.
  • Whether the +20% figure holds at every rank of Strike the Flanks.
