The short answer

Yes. Species and appearance can both be changed later at the Den's customisation station.

In full

What that means when you are planning

This contradicts the natural reading of a character-creation choice, which is why it is worth stating plainly: nothing you pick on that first screen is locked in.

Specialization is changeable too. Bit Reactor say they allow Specialization changes even on authored characters, with a couple of exceptions whose identities are very strongly tied to their classes — and Hawks is not among the exceptions they describe.

What we don't know yet

The game has not been released. These are open questions we have chosen not to guess at.

  • Whether changing species costs anything, or is limited in frequency.
