This one cannot be upgraded. Every Specialization has one passive that is fixed at the value above — the Heavy has two — which is why a class with four abilities shows three rows in the Focus Tree. No Focus Points make it better.

Why it matters when you are planning a squad

If the stacking is real, a limited-use Utility in an astromech's hands has three uses rather than one, and the class stops being a support Operator and becomes the squad's supply line — three items at three uses is nine, against one Operator's one. That is a large enough claim that it should not be built on until somebody counts the charges in play. Nothing else about the astromech changes either way.

Added 2026-09-01 at a lower confidence than everything else in this pass, and the reason is on the face of the source. It prints seven abilities for the astromech where every other class has four or five, and two of the seven carry the same sentence. Its own text says they stack — "This effect stacks with Extended Range", naming a third thing that appears nowhere else on the page — which is a sentence with a proofreading error inside a claim it is the sole source for. Entered rather than dropped, because omitting a published row is its own kind of invention, and entered at `disputed` confidence — the source disagrees with itself — rather than at the pass's usual level. If it turns out to be one row printed twice, this record is deleted and the astromech's ability count falls to six; nothing else depends on it.
