Squad partners

Who to pair the class with

Each pairing states whether the interaction is officially confirmed or our reading of confirmed mechanics.

  • Scoundrel

Identify Weakness turns the next attack into a critical, and the Sharpshooter's is the highest-value attack to spend it on. Confirmed synergy.

  • Assault

The Assault forces enemies out of entrenched cover into the Sharpshooter's line of fire.

  • Scout

Mission structure limits static sniping; a Scout's setup work keeps sightlines usable.

Strengths

  • High ground improves hit chance, and a long-range Operator benefits from it most.
  • Removing a priority target before it acts is the cheapest form of damage prevention.
  • Converts a Scoundrel's Identify Weakness flag into the squad's largest single hit.

Weaknesses

  • Developers state that line of sight and mission structure limit pure sniper strategies — four long-range Operators is explicitly a bad squad.
  • Long-range positioning conflicts with timed objectives that require advancing.
  • Some attacks consume all available AP, so a missed shot can cost an entire turn.

What we don't know yet

The game has not been released. These are open questions we have chosen not to guess at.

  • Exact range bands and accuracy falloff.
  • Whether high ground is a flat modifier or scales with elevation.
  • AP cost of its long-range attacks and whether they end the turn.
  • Critical-hit damage multipliers.
